The nearest train station to Penhale Caravan and Camping Park is two and a half miles away in Par. Travelling by train in Cornwall is a great way to avoid the summer traffic and see the beautiful countryside. There are some charming little stations, such as Bodmin Parkway and Looe.
Par railway station connects the main line with the line to Newquay. Truro is also a surprisingly short journey by train from Par, avoiding any traffic or parking worries. Or change at Liskeard for the picturesque line to Looe.
The small car park at Par station is free of charge.

This service runs between Fowey and Mevagissey, and will stop at the entrance to Penhale Caravan Park if hailed. The service stops at Fowey, Polkerris turning, Par Sands, Par Railway Station, Charlestown, Penrice, St Austell and Mevagissey. The buses run hourly, six days a week, and every other hour on a Sunday. The service runs all year.
No 524 Western Greyhound Bus
This service runs between Fowey and Mevagissey, but does not pass right past the entrance to Penhale. It stops at Fowey, Tywardreath, Par Station, St Blazey, Holmbush, St Austell and Mevagissey. The buses run hourly, six days a week, and every other hour on a Sunday. The service runs all year.

Fowey Town Bus
This local minibus service runs between the main car park on Hanson Drive and the centre of Fowey town. From May 1st until October 31st the service operates from 10am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, and on Sunday from 1pm to 7pm. There is a limited winter service. For more information contact Julie Yeo.

Ferries Fowey to Polruan Passenger and Cycle Ferry
This passenger ferry runs a service between Fowey and Polruan. Operating every day, except Christmas Day, it leaves each side every 10 to 15 minutes. Dogs, bicycles and pushchairs are welcome but be aware that the ferry is reached by steps on both sides of the river.
The ferry runs from either Fowey Town Quay or Whitehouse Slip (400m west of Fowey town centre along the Esplanade), to Polruan Quay. Subject to weather conditions. For more details, check the information boards at the landing points or contact the operator.

Fowey to Bodinnick Car Ferry
This continuous daily service goes from Fowey, over the river to Bodinnick, where you can then drive on to Polruan, Looe or Polperro. There are some beautiful beaches to explore on this side of the river, such as Lansallos and Lantic Bay. At the Four Turnings roundabout, go straight over, following the signs for the Bodinnick Ferry.

Fowey to Mevagissey Passenger Ferry
There is also a regular ferry service to Mevagissey from Whitehouse Slip in Fowey. The crossing takes about 30 -40 minutes, and is a really enjoyable and popular day trip in itself.
You could combine the ferry trip with a visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, as they are within walking distance of Mevagissey. There are handy walking maps available on board to guide you.
Tickets are sold on board, so arrive early to secure a seat. Dogs are allowed on board. Bicycles are also allowed with prior arrangement.
