We have searched through all the local listings to save you the hassle! We've selected the events at the most popular attractions in Cornwall as well as those which are happening locally. All dates, times and prices are correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of producing this guide, but may be subject to change so please contact the event organisers direct to confirm the events you wish to attend. Websites and telephone numbers are provided where available. We have also included the distance from Penhale Park to the events, to give you an idea of how far you would need to travel.

Every Tuesday: July 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th - Charlestown Guided Walk

The pretty harbour village of Charlestown was built by the local landowner Charles Rashleigh in the 19th century, to ship copper ore and china clay. At one time there were many businesses alongside the docks, including boat building, net and rope making, and brickworks. The guided walk gives you a chance to learn more about the fascinating history of this beautiful, unspoilt village, which is part of a Cornish World Heritage Site and also home to a fleet of square-rigged sailing vessels. The village and harbour, as well as the ships themselves, have been used in countless films and television programmes.

Booking is not required. The cost for adults £2.50, under 16's are free with an adult. Meet outside the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre at 7pm, the walk ends around 8.45pm. For further details you can contact Charles Thurlow on 01726 73882.

A guided historical walk of the town of Fowey, looking at how the town and port have developed over the years. Discover who the 'Fowey Gallants' were, where the 'Ragged Staff' is, why the Pilgrims were here and what connection there is with Harvard! Meet at 11am on the Town Quay. A great fun murder mystery evening on a proper old fashioned steam train! Will you discover 'whodunit' and win a prize? The train departs from Bodmin General Station at 7pm, after you have enjoyed a Cornish pasty supper on board. The bar is open all evening. The train travels around 13 miles during the evening and returns to Bodmin General at about 10pm. The admission price for adults is £21.50, Children £10.00, Family tickets cost £55.00. Every Thursday: July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th - Headland Garden Open Day

Headland Garden in Polruan is open as part of the National Garden Scheme, in aid of the RNLI. Headland is a coastal garden overlooking the English Channel and the beautiful Fowey Estuary. It's unique position on the South Cornwall coast has an almost sub tropical climate which allows plants such as palms, tree ferns and echium to flourish The gardens are open from 2pm – 6pm. Each week throughout the summer season there are guided tours of the town, leaving from the Community Centre at 11am on Thursdays. The tour costs £2.50 per person and is not suitable for dogs. For more details please contact 01208 872684.

Every Sunday: July 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th - Gribben 'Daymark' Open Days, Menabilly

This iconic red and white striped 'daymark' was built on Gribben Head in 1832 to provide a navigational aid to sailors. It is now owned by the National Trust. Climb up the stairs inside the huge 84 foot tower and take in the views from the top of this striking coastal land mark, which is clearly visible from Penhale Caravan Park. The tower is open on Sundays from 11am until 5pm and it costs 50p to enter. The closest car park is at Menabilly Farm.

Distance: 2 miles to the car park then a twenty minute walk to the Day Mark.

Sunday July 4th – Newquay Carnival

This year the Carnival has an American theme and there will be a Carnival Parade and music from Newquay Band and the Truro Samba Band. There is also a sandcastle competition planned at 2pm on Towan beach. The procession starts at 7pm from Tregunnel car park.

Monday July 5th - Evening Boat Trip and Sea Safari, Newquay

Bring your binoculars and cameras on this slow boat ride around Newquay's beautiful headlands. You will see lots of sea birds and other wildlife – you may spot seals, or even dolphins and basking sharks! A local wildlife expert is on board to advise you. Sunday July 11th until Saturday July 18th - Lostwithiel Carnival Week

Lostwithiel has a great community spirit and their Carnival Week is always popular and lots of fun. Highlights include a Charity Fayre and Country Pursuits Day at King George V playing field on Sunday afternoon. There will be Pram Races starting and finishing from Parade Square from 6.15 on Wednesday 14th, as well as a free Band and Choir concert in St Bartholomew's Church at 8pm. On Thursday 15th there's a street party, with the final of Lostwithiel's Got Talent at 5.30pm, stalls, a bar, BBQ and hog roast. The famous Lostwithiel Duck Race starts at 7.30pm!

On Saturday 18th the Carnival Parade starts from Coulson Park at 6.30pm. Prizes for the winners will be presented in the Chatham car park and then the music will commence. This year, the Carnival band is Black Friday, and there will also be a disco inside the Chatham. The fireworks begin around 10pm, with the music continuing outside until 11pm.

Monday July 12th - Stannary Cruise to Lostwithiel

Enjoy an hour's cruise on the River Fowey to Lostwithiel. You will be met by a local guide who will take you on a one hour tour of the historic town of Lostwithiel, before returning on the boat to Fowey. Please note: Open boat. Cornwall Wildlife Trust is holding its annual summer gathering at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. There will be focus on having lots of fun and learning about wildlife, as well as raising awareness of the Trust's important work in protecting Cornwall's wildlife and wild places. With tons of fun things to see and do for all ages, it really will be an unmissable day out for all the family. Renowned wildlife photographer David Chapman will also be there to provide an interesting wildlife photography walk around the grounds as well as wildlife experts from the Trust on hand to answer any questions. There will be nature walks, face painting, wildlife storytelling, quizzes, raffles and a range of stalls, plus the chance to learn all about the important work that Cornwall Wildlife Trust does for Cornwall's wildlife. The event runs from 10.30am until 4pm.

Saturday July 31st - Paranormal Ghost Walk Night, Bodmin Jail

Hosted by 'Spooks Nights' Paranormal Investigation Team, the event runs from 10pm until 7am. Tickets are £50 per adult to include a cooked breakfast at the Jail after the event at 7am.
