Looe Carnival Week
Every day there is something happening in the town. Join in the traditional Floral dance through the town, listen to some alfresco Cornish singing by a local choir on the seafront and watch the carnival parade with colourful floats, pipe bands, majorettes and brass bands.
There are also some great activities for children. They can take part in the under 13 mini fun run that starts from the fish quay and snakes through the local wood, there’s the children’s sand modelling competition on East Looe Beach and kids will love the traditional Punch and Judy shows.

Guided ‘Hall Walk’, Fowey – Polruan – Fowey
This famous walk is one of the most scenic in the area and can be enjoyed with a guide, on the first Wednesday of each month throughout the season. The walk uses both the Bodinnick ferry and the Polruan ferry (you will need fares). Meet at the ferry landing at Bodinnick at 10.30am. This is a four mile walk and the terrain can be steep and rocky. Charlestown Heritage Trails
The pretty harbour village of Charlestown was built by the local landowner Charles Rashleigh in the 19th century, to ship copper ore and china clay. At one time there were many businesses alongside the docks, including boat building, net and rope making, and brickworks. The guided walk gives you a chance to learn more about the fascinating history of this beautiful, unspoilt village, which is part of a Cornish World Heritage Site and also home to a fleet of square-rigged sailing vessels. The village and harbour, as well as the ships themselves, have been used in many well known films and television programmes.

Gribbin Day Mark Open Day, Menabilly
This iconic red and white striped ‘day mark’ was built on Gribbin Head in 1832 to provide a navigational aid to sailors. It is now owned by the National Trust. Climb up the stairs inside the huge 84 foot tower and take in the views from the top of this striking coastal land mark which is clearly visible from Penhale Caravan Park.
The tower is open from 11am until 5pm and it costs £1 to enter (free for members). Booking is not required. The closest car park is at Menabilly Farm, 2 miles from Penhale. It is then a twenty minute walk to the day mark.

This iconic red and white striped ‘day mark’ was built on Gribbin Head in 1832 to provide a navigational aid to sailors. It is now owned by the National Trust. Climb up the stairs inside the huge 84 foot tower and take in the views from the top of this striking coastal land mark which is clearly visible from Penhale Caravan Park.

Fowey Royal Regatta
For one week each August the usually tranquil town of Fowey attracts thousands of visitors who flock there for the Fowey Royal Regatta, one of Britain’s premier sailing events. It is also a fun-filled week for all the family – sailors and landlubbers alike!

Gribbin Day Mark Open Day, Menabilly
This iconic red and white striped ‘day mark’ was built on Gribbin Head in 1832 to provide a navigational aid to sailors. It is now owned by the National Trust. Climb up the stairs inside the huge 84 foot tower and take in the views from the top of this striking coastal land mark which is clearly visible from Penhale Caravan Park.
The tower is open from 11am until 5pm and it costs £1 to enter (free for members). Booking is not required. The closest car park is at Menabilly Farm, 2 miles from Penhale. It is then a twenty minute walk to the day mark.
